The idea of an intermediate report was first suggested at the AGM in 2009. There was significant support from the attendees but. in the event, only two members of ISVA were prepared to become part of the working party.
As a result, the people who have put the report format together are Roger Wilkey, Trevor Thatcher, Ian Vicary and Christopher Green. I am grateful to them and other members of ISVA who have made comments and made a valuable contribution.
We started with a blank form. Every independent surveyor will have a different opinion about what is needed for an intermediate survey. As a result, there was considerable discussion about the format of the report.
Although I have received a large number of emails about the new RICS report format, we did not set out to provide a replacement or substitute for this.
We have done our best to provide a form of report that gives a degree of consistency and yet allows individual surveyors the flexibility to comment as they think fit.
It is likely that a revised version of the report will be provided within three months based upon feedback from members. There comes a point when you have to start somewhere. We have dipped our toe in the water and are quite prepared to adapt as necessary.
I must emphasise that the above comments are mine only and are not intended to represent ISVA in any way
